"Maiyegun" is a Yoruba word.  It literally means "making the world straight".  A "Maiyegun" therefore, is someone who helps to improve his/her community or society.  They are a catalyst for positive change within their environment or a catalyst for social, economic and cultural progress.

 

The Founder, having the privilege of being the first "Maiyegun" of Egbaland (his community), felt it appropriate to name the new institution "MAIYEGUN COLLEGE" to connote the idea of the future role the institution will play as educator of "catalyst for human progress".
